I was interviewed for two new articles in financial newspapers that came out over the weekend. One addressed Wall Street and the other the gay glass ceiling. It’s always encouraging when somewhat conservative publications take a positive stance on the value of inclusiveness–both economically and socially. Here are the links:

New Year, New Adventures

I was talking to a former student yesterday who is off to a new professional adventure abroad. One thing he said that struck me was that if you would have even hinted five years ago while finishing his degree that he would be heading up a major business unit at a Fortune 100 company in a foreign country he would have said “no way.” In fact, I remember that his articulated goals were very different from his current career track. That’s what it’s all about — being open to new adventures, new experiences and making the most out of unexpected opportunities. In fact, when you ask most high powered CEOs about their early career goals, what they are doing now is the furthest thing from their original plans. Good advice for everyone no matter what your current career level may be: be open, be creative and don’t be afraid to adapt and pursue new types of opportunities. As long as they take advantage of your talents and skills and provide satisfaction, they will take you in the right direction. Happy New Year!
