Chicago buy The Voyage That Shook the World the movie
Later this week I’m speaking at Cisco Systems and one of the things I’m incorporating into my presentation is the topic of perception and how it can lead us down an ignorant path–in our personal lives as well as at work. Perception is about acquiring, interpreting, selecting and organizing information. As we acquire new information our perceptions shift and change. When I look at acts of bigotry — whether it was meant for public consumption or not as in the case of Dog the Bounty Hunter — I believe that one of the best ways to fight bigotry is to change the perception of others as well as our perception of “them.” How? By giving them and ourselves new information about the realities of each individual’s authentic identity thereby increasing individual “experience.” To me, private conversations are more telling because they are more truthful. All hate stems from ignorance and that is where misperception is born. In this globalized world where inclusion is now a thriving business commodity, there is no room for ignorance. Open your mind and you’ll find that you’re also opening the doors of success in the age of information.
